Starting a new business in London can be daunting. However, there is no need to operate alone. Plenty of startups are popping up across the city, along with all kinds of events intended to advise and empower you. At these events you will be provided with an opportunity to meet other businesspeople in a relaxed environment, so you can build relationships of mutual benefit. Most also have talks and workshops run by established people who were once startup founders like yourselves. We curated a list of five promising events occurring in the next couple of months to help you get started. (A lot of them repeat every week/month too, so once you’re on their email schedule you’ll be able to keep abreast of what’s going on well into the new year as well).
WOMEN WITH VOICES LIVE: HOW STARTUPS CAN OVERCOME PROCRASTINATION
When: Tuesday 6th December, 18:30 – 21:30
Where: Google campus, 5 Bonhill Street, Shoreditch, EC2A 4BX
Women with Voices understand the difficulties faced by startup founders, and this event focuses on a big one: procrastination. You’ll be greeted with a cocktail, then have an hour of talks by certified subjugators of procrastination, such as Juliet Landau-Pope. After this you will divide into small groups, where alongside the event’s speakers, you can discuss matters of interest further and, of course, network.

TECH CITY TOUR – CONNECT WITH LONDON’S TECHNOLOGY SCENE
When: Friday 9th December, 14:15 – 18:00
Where: WeWork Old Street, 41 Corsham Street N1 6DR
This event aims to familiarise people with the startup ecosystem in London. If you’ve only recently begun your entrepreneurial adventure in the city, or even if you’ve been there a while, you may not be aware of the community which is right there for you to tap into. Throughout the day you will hear interesting talks, interspersed with walking tours of key areas. The day will end at Silicon Drinkabout, where you can enjoy a beer alongside other London entrepreneurs.

ENTREPRENEURS’ NETWORKING NIGHT
When: Monday 16th January, 18:00 – 21:00
Where: The Anthologist, 58 Gresham Street, EC2V 7BB
This event is a networking event in its purest form. It aims to have a relaxed and low-key atmosphere, in which people can talk about their products and services, but most importantly build connections. In keeping with its casual theme the event is free.
OFFICE HOURS WITH CJS RISK MANAGEMENT

Another free event, here CJS Risk Management will offer you a thirty minute one-to-one session with their experts. Do a little research beforehand and arrive with questions, to make the most out of the time.
DIGITAL HUSTLERS HUB NETWORKING EVENT
When: Tuesday 13th December, 18:00 – 22:00
Where: Campus London, 4-5 Bonhill St, Shoreditch, EC2A 4BX
Same venue, completely different event. As more and more goods and services take an online form, the internet becomes increasingly important day by day. Truly understanding how to make the most of this can give your business a sharp competitive edge. Whilst four hours is certainly not enough to become an expert, this event will equip you with some essential knowledge with which to continue your digital journey.
